Useful Infos to participate

Valberg is located at just 1h20 from Nice. It has an “eagle’s nest” position for cyclists at an altitude of 1,700 m and all its access roads are unforgettable: via the Cians gorges, the Daluis gorges, the Col de la Couillole or the Col de la Cayolle, you will be amazed to reach this peaceful resort where Riviera residents like to recharge their batteries far from the noise and tourists:

  • By train: Nice train station is the closest to Valberg. You can then take a shuttle bus from the station, or come directly by bike.
  • By car: from Nice, allow around 1h20 drive to reach the village with your bike. Do not hesitate to use the participants’ Facebook group if you wish to offer carpooling with other participants ;-).
  • By plane: Nice airport is the closest to Valberg. You then have several options such as renting a vehicle, carpooling with another participant, taking a shuttle bus from Nice train station, or coming directly by bike.

Depending on your race format, here are our technical bike recommendations. For the 1000 km and HALF road races, the routes are 100% asphalt. The quality of the asphalt varies, and depending on the weather conditions, the roads can be greasy and covered in leaves, stones, etc.
For the GRAVEL 555, the route is made up of around one hundred kilometers of alpine and forest trails.

We therefore recommend using the following equipment:

ROAD FORMAT

  • Recommended road bikes:
Comfort variant: Chiru Kunlun ou Chiru X-root
    Race variant: Chiru Allure
  • Tired of MINIMUM 25mm width, 32 or 34mm if you are looking for ideal comfort
  • Disk brakes
  • Transmission: 50-34 teeth (front) – 11-34 (rear)

GRAVEL FORMAT

  • Gravel bike or semi-rigid mountain bike recommended:
Comfort variant: Chiru Vagus ou Chiru Alpin
Race variant: Chiru Allure (tout intégré)
  • Tires of MINIMUM 40mm or 45mm if you are looking for more comfort
  • Front transmission with single plate (36 or 38 teeth) or sub-compact (example: 46-30 teeth) and cassette as large as possible (example: 10-50 teeth)
