The Alpes-Maritimes department is located in the extreme south-east of France and is famous for the beauty of its landscapes, its gentle way of life and its authentic culture. Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, this territory is full of natural parks and a very varied geology (clues, gorges, lakes, etc.).
The south of France is a climbers’ paradise with the highest passes in Europe. Its many picturesque villages have a unique charm. On the Italian border, another exoticism emerges, another gastronomy as well as another topography too. The climbs become even wilder, sometimes even brutal with a gravel finish on some of them.
The numerous bakeries, fountains and shops accessible all along the route are part of this BikingMan’s experience. For the first time, immersion in Italian territory will bring its delicious share of timeless memories in this XXL adventure designed for convicts of the road.
The South of France and the Italian border have a network of sublime picturesque roads. There are 20 km of gravel passes on this route but they are all doable with a road bike. We recommend you:
- A confortable road bike such as the Origine Axxome 3 GTR
- Pneus de 25mm minimum (use tubeless for more comfort)
- Single chainring or compact front drivetrain (50-34T) and 11-32T cassette (or 11-34T for maximum comfort in the bumps)
For your safety, you are required to bring the following equipment with you in order to participate in the race. The organization will make sure that you are in possession of the mandatory equipment when checking in the athletes and bikes.
- GPS tracker – provided by the organization
- 1x set of 4 spare AAA batteries (lithium) (for the GPS tracker)
- Bike GPS – Wahoo / Garmin type or equivalent
- 1x bicycle helmet
- 1x front light (with permanent mode)
- 1x rear light (with permanent mode)
- 1x bicycle pump (mandatory even when using tubeless tires)
- 1x inner tube + 1x repair kit (patch + glue + tire changer – mandatory even when using tubeless tires)
- Water bottles for a minimum capacity of 1.5l of water (1x 750ml water bottle provided to each athlete by the organization)
- 1x pair of gloves
- Reflective clothing (eg: Audax vest, yellow safety vest…)
- 1x survival blanket
- 1x jacket or jersey with light rain protection, ideally with a hood
- Sunglasses with UV protection
- Mobile phone and charging device (eg: dynamo or USB battery)
- Identity document + paper or digital copy of it (ex: keep a copy of your passport or identity card on your personal cloud)

Find useful information on the logistics and schedule of the race below. The race village, where the start and finish of the race will be located, is located in Valberg. It is possible to camp, come in a van or camper van or sleep in the many accommodations available in the station.
- Check-in: Saturday June 22nd from 5pm to 7pm / Sunday June 23rd from 7am to 10am.
- Pre-race Briefing: Sunday June 23rd at 10:30am.
- Race Start: Sunday June 23rd at 12pm.
- CP1: Location to be confirmed 1 month before the race

- CP3: Location to be confirmed 1 month before the race
- Race cut-off time: Friday June 28th at 12pm.
