Explore the Atlas and Morocco, “the land of light” for an extraordinary gravel experience. Live an ultra-distance bikepacking experience with a total change of scenery at the gates of Africa. Two GRAVEL distances are available (500 or 1000 km including 20 to 30% on gravel) and will allow you to discover, at the best time of the year, the Moroccan mountains. At the start of the season, it’s an ideal escaping to one of the most beautiful stages of BikingMan. |

Marrakech, the “Red City,” is one of Morocco’s major cities. Situated on a vast plateau bordered to the south by the majestic Atlas Mountains, Marrakech is just a three-hour flight from major European cities.
- By plane: This is the easiest option; Marrakech airport is well-connected to Europe and is located just a few kilometers from the race village. Once there, it is easy to find a taxi to take you and your bike to your accommodation. Marrakech offers plenty of affordable lodging options right near the race start line.
- By car (or bike): If you wish to extend your trip, Marrakech is accessible by car or bicycle, involving a ferry crossing from Spain. Several route options are available depending on your starting point.
The calendar of the event
Here are the key dates to know for BikingMan Maroc 2027:
- October 1st 2026: Registration opens reserved for veterans and pre-registered persons (FLASH-SALE).
- October 5th 2026: Registration opens (Early Bird rate)
- January 1st 2027: Registration opens (Standard rate)
- 1 month before the start: Pre-race video briefing
- Saturday, April 24th 2027 from 2pm to 6pm: Reception and inspection of mandatory equipment
- 8pm: Welcome dinner (booking required)
- Sunday, April 25th 2027 at 7am: Start of both the 1,000 km and 500 km races
- Thursday, April 29th at 8pm: Official closing dinner (booking required)
- Friday, April 30th 2027 at 7am: Arrival deadline for the BikingMan 1,000 km
The BikingMan 1,000 km will include 3 mandatory checkpoints spread along the route.
The 555 Gravel will include 2 mandatory checkpoint on the course.
The exact locations will be indicated on the final traces as well as on the brevet card which will be given to you in your race package.
For your safety, it is mandatory to present the following items during Check-in:
- GPS tracker – provided by the organization
- 1x set of 4 spare AAA batteries (lithium) (for the GPS tracker)
- Bike GPS – Wahoo / Garmin type or equivalent
- 1x bicycle helmet
- 1x front light (with permanent mode)
- 1x rear light (with permanent mode)
- 1x bicycle pump (mandatory even when using tubeless tires)
- 1x inner tube + 1x repair kit (patch + glue + tire changer – mandatory even when using tubeless tires)
- Water bottles for a minimum capacity of 1.5l of water
- 1x pair of gloves
- Reflective clothing (eg: Audax vest, yellow safety vest…)
- 1x survival blanket
- 1x jacket or jersey with light rain protection, ideally with a hood
- Warm protection for cool nights (e.g. leg and arm warmers)
- Sunglasses with UV protection
- Mobile phone and charging device (eg: dynamo or USB battery)
- Identity document + paper or digital copy of it (ex: keep a copy of your passport or identity card on your personal cloud)
Depending on your race format, here are our technical recommendations regarding bikes:
The routes for both formats (1,000 km and 500 km Gravel) include sections of gravel tracks. Furthermore, the quality of the tarmac varies.
We therefore recommend using the following equipment :
- Gravel bike or semi-rigid mountain bike recommended
- Tires with a minimum width of 40mm—45mm for extra comfort, and 50mm for the best performance.
- TFront drivetrain with a single chainring (36 or 38 teeth) or sub-compact setup (eg: 46-30 teeth) and the largest possible cassette (eg: 10-50 teeth)
- Disk brakes
