In 25 editions of BikingMan, we have repeatedly witnessed incredible performances by our participants. These new explorers who try the challenge deploy colossal efforts to succeed in completing the extreme routes that we offer on each event.
For this 2022 version of the X, the cocktail did not disappoint, with a major novelty: for the first time in 25 races, it was a woman who marked the history of BikingMan by winning the main event of the championship.
Laurianne Placais, after a great 5th place in Corsica a few weeks earlier on her first ultracycling event, won the “X” which takes participants through the craziest succession of Alpine passes (50 climbs!) by establishing a staggering time of 64h31m, bettering the mark set last year by Cristian Auriemma, a former professional cyclist.
Laurianne becomes the first woman to win a BikingMan by resisting the overwhelming weather with the heat wave and the drought plan triggered. She reached the end of the 26,500m of cumulative elevation gain of the course with rare consistency. We hope that this incredible performance will inspire other women to try the adventure of ultracycling.
BikingWoMan
To pay tribute to Laurianne and the 93 women who started a BikingMan during these 25 editions, and to all the others that will soon follow them, the BikingMan site will feature until BikingMan AURA (which will start on August 8 from Beaumont-Lès-Valence) a BikingWoMan logo.
A huge thank you to all of you for joining us on one or more events and for inspiring other people to live the BikingMan adventure.
Le X en résultats
If Laurianne wins this BikingMan X, in 64h31m, we must not forget to salute the performance of all the participants since 2022 will have seen only 2 participants having to give up this XL challenge.
Therefore, 17 people out of the 19 starters managed to cover these 50 ascents to the bewildering list of mythical passes: Madeleine, Croix de Fer, Bonette, Vars, Izoard, Galibier, Iseran, to name just a few of the best known, but the list goes on and on.
Among these adventurers, Sébastien Chansaulme (77h13m), finisher of the 1st edition of BikingMan Euskadi (12th overall) and of the 2022 edition on the island of beauty (13th), takes a superb 2nd place overall and wins the Men category after a good management and battle with Benjamin Kaufmann (79h16m) who finished behind him.
Among the pairs, it was Adeline and Thomas who won the category, even if the only representatives of the category, they managed to cover the entire track, reaching the finish line in 114h23m.
Finally, a nod to our red lantern and 2nd Woman on this X: Annabelle managed to complete the loop solo in 125h42m.

2022 Series Ranking
With this Queen stage of the 2022 championship now completed, it is time to take a look at the ranking of the 2022 series, which is well enriched by the presence of participants who have completed their 2nd event of the year there.
So far lead by Bertrand Berger, engaged in the almost ultimate challenge of being finisher on all events of the 2022 championship, and still on track to achieve this tour de force, he sees Sébastien Chansaulme leap behind him to 2nd place. thanks to his great performance on this X. Behind them, 3rd place is now occupied by Thomas Delers (Belgium), who tried all the way to the finish line to put pressure on Bertrand and Nicolas Faure.
Note that the BikingMan AURA will see a new opposition between Bertrand and Sébastien for the head of the Series classification since both will be present at the start in Beaumont-lès-Valence.
Among the women, Laurianne is so far the only participant to have completed 2 events, a condition to enter the classification of the series, and with her 2 victories in the category, has a perfect capital point for the rest of the championship.
