]]> After a depressing first half of the year, it’s good to concentrate on more positive things, and also it got moved by several months to respond to the sanitary situation, the 2020 edition of BikingMan Corsica now appears on the horizon.

What is the best bikepacking configuration to explore Laos?

After spending 5 days on the entire race course and many more days cycling in Laos, Axel shares some key advice to know to get prepared for the event.

The recon was done with the following bike configuration:
– Bicycle type: OPEN UP gravel bike
– Tire type and size: Schwalbe G-ONE Bite 40mm
– Gear ratio: 50/34 in the front – 11/34 in the back (a single-speed would be more comfortable with ideally a 0,75 gear ratio)

Axel Carion, founder of the series and long distance bikepacking explorer, shares key advice to come well prepared in Taiwan. This is the kit list he has used during the route explorations of Taiwan.

The lightest configuration are recommended. Race course is fully paved, an agressive bike configuration is recommended:

– Road bike / Time trial bike
– Tires: 25/28mm
– Bikepacking bags: pack as light as possible respecting the mandatory kit (see the FAQ sections of the event)

He managed to finish the 2018 edition in 51 hours.
